i would really be into making any sort of pirate movie(not being sarcastic,
either) i think it would be great. there's so much room for levity and
humor in a project like that ..... with that kind of open-ended storyline
it would be hard to make it boring . . . almost too easy.......except
for the implication that it would take place on a huge ship! ... i don't
know what the rental fee is for a Frigate or large Schooner these days,
but if anybody in this forum with a big sailboat wants to make a movie, i'm
there .
best regards

hey now Jp, I am with you on this, I think that hollywood hasnt even come close to a decent Pirate movie, and to be honest, only the english could really make it to its best. you dont need a boat, just parts of boats, but I am sure to buy an old ship is not that much money!! always fancied wearing a Hook hand and a wooden leg l...heheh...but thats my darker side

With all the press being given to music and video pirates, I'd think that you could find a story that would being the old and new concept of "pirate" together. And if you set te piece in the modern world, you could skip the ship rental.
Perhaps something along the lines of the MPAA going after what they expect to be a bunch of computer geeks (said with love) in a lab but instead find a group of "pirates". Add a star crossed romance, a sword fight (Monty Python the Meaning of Life), and a happy ending and you got a film.
I could see it done as a silent, B/W short, maybe 12 minutes.

Zevon forever!
I no there is no such thing.
But I do no that they used to project on to vast sheets of material that were soaked through with water. this was in the old days of cinema. the material was as big as four house and the water made it see through so you could see both sides.
but be careful with me I'm patient only three timesninja
