for the bauer S 715 XL users - spare

Post by jean »

having a slow day at work, I keep scanning through my regular sites.. and found that wittner sells the infamous battery compartment door for the bauer 715 XL. At a whopping 48,72 EUR exluding tax, however - but at least, there is an option now. I guess this sad masterpiece of costcutting has condemmned many of these fine cameras to paperweights.

BTW, I'm in no way affiliated to those guys, just browsing their site and sharing what I think could be useful info!
have fun!

my 715's battery door is also looking rather dubious . if 10 or 15 people
were to request it , i would entertain making some replacement parts for
this thing . the tabs that swing into place to lock the door are delicate and fragile looking . i'd probably make them out of delrin plastic.
'friend' price would be about $12 a pair(left and right) for 2 tiny pieces of plastic , machined on an $80,000 milling machine. setup would
be a bitch for parts this small , but i'm a fanatic and i freakout about
things like this.

let me know what you think.

I tryed to make new "clips" into my battery holder, but it was not so easy as you would think of. I managed to make those "clips", but it came so tight that i nearly broke the handle :-(

I found another way to fix that problem thought ;-)

I got the "replacenment part" from, uh hmmm "dryer tool" or what ever it is in english. Just go to nearest cheap hardware store and you wild such dryer for 20$.

b.t.w. It's very easy to make plug for outer pover source as well. I made it for cam, it's in the picture ;-)[/url]
