I came across a Carena 7710-IM a couple of weeks ago in a thrift shop. Didn’t think too much of it as the lens and viewfinder was loose and it did not run.
Anyway, yesterday I was back for a second look and bought it. I opened it and it turned out that a piece of plastic was wedged between the motor and the wheel that turns the film cassette.
The lens was loose because it’s detachable, and it was not attached correct (can you put other lenses on?) Also the viewfinder had to be attached again by screwing in two little screws.
Now the camera works excellent and I’m wondering:
What is the optics like on this camera? Is it any good?
As the lens comes of, can I put another lens on?

not sure about the model number of your carena , but ican tell you
this much : carena made some very unique reg8mm cameras , i can't
remember if they were german or swiss . the ones i'm familiar with
had either angenieux or schneider lenses . one had a spring that wound
by turning the round handle . the other looked similar to an agfa
movexoom .
the super8 i think you may have was made by "Nalcom"
in japan. the nalcom had a removable Shinkor zoom lens with a bayonet - type mount . i don't know that much about that camera- only
seen one in person - it was well made + had every feature + a funny
looking handle grip, sorta' like a B.U. 2008 .
don't know what lenses would fit this "interchangable lens's"
mount though . don't see too many of these lately. but 2-3 years ago
nalcoms sold on ebay for $250-400 us
good luck with your camera

Re: Carena - Any Good?
I got the same camera on ebay few weeks ago, it looks very good but power zoom is not working. I would like to try to fix it myself but cannot find how to open the camera. Can anyone help me where to look for screws to dismantle the camera body?
Thanks,
Rudolf
