a beautiful s8 transfer
The following link will take you to a film to tape transfer outfit here in my home town, Seattle. I've not yet used their services, but plan to. From the site if you select super8 and then scroll to the bottom of that page you will see a sample clip that is quite impressive.

The outfit is called Flying Spot. (FYI for those looking for S8 samples)

Wow that was awesome! 8O
I especially liked the contrast in the black and white scene with the pebbles and the fans. Truely beautiful.

Re: a beautiful s8 transfer
I played the clip full screen on a 21" flat panel PC monitor. There are couple of scenes in this clip that are so solid in their color with no trace of grain. Is this Super8? Can someone comment on this?steve hyde wrote:The following link will take you to a film to tape transfer outfit here in my home town, Seattle. I've not yet used their services, but plan to. Coors,
There are actually two samples on the page I posted. "Sanctuary" is a mixed media project to be sure. Just above that link is another that is .....mostly S8..... There is one scene of a helicopter taking off that looks like S16 to me.
I share your frustration. If they are going to call it S8 they should not dazzle us by throwing s16 or 35mm into the mix, especially when they are trying to sell us their services. It would be nice if they would give explicit details regarding these samples.

Another Source of S8 sound stripping and Telecine
Super 8 Militia in San Francisco will do Sound Stripping and telecine for great prices. Have not used them and don't know the quality.
http://www.super8mm.org/
I am now doing sound striping of Super 8 and Regular 8mm film. Please see what will soon be my new website at:
http://www.super8cinema.com
The costs if you find the site from here is only 25 cents a foot for whatever sound striping you need!
I am also selling my telecine tranfer services for $7.50 plus shipping and handling for each 50ft of film. You need to supply your own MiniDV tape. The transfers are done digitally one frame at a time using a pulse-gate technology. More info on this to come.

well any and all clips in that clip (huM? hehe) look awesome, but some are definately not S8.. I mean, there's one shot of the rising sun or whatever, can't remember that has no grain whatsoever.. even after blowing up quicktime's window
Some other scenes were probably 16mm too.. any way they seem to have really great service, but they should limit the clip to super8 ;)
