Krasnogorsk 3 - screw lens doubt

Hello,

I've a Krasnogorsk 3 and recently i bought a 55mm screw lens thinking that it would give me a wider plan.

But instead of that it closes the view.

I made a mistake thinking that 55mm would be enough for a wide view in 16mm. I can focus but it is too closed view.

So, tell me, what screw lens should i buy to have a wide view?

I need to film in a small room, so what lens should i use to get the most of it without too much distortion?

A 55mm lens is going to be telephoto on a 16mm camera, while appearing closer to "normal" on a 35mm camera. Technically, the normal lens for a 16mm camera is about 17mm or so, though most people commonly settle for normal as 25mm. Therefore, if you want a wide angle look for 16mm film, you'll need something along the lines of 8mm in focal length. The only M42 screwmount lens at 8mm I know of is the Russian made Peleng. Sometimes the QC on the metal work is iffy (had to send mine back, initially) but I've owned one and they are sharp as a pin. A really nice lens. Make sure that it has the tiny, screw-in rear element where the filters go or it will NOT focus to infinity, though it will focus very close without the rear element (handy trick, actually). The Pelengs sell on ebay for anywhere from $100-$300, depending on who offers them and how many people are getting their slice of the pie as they're brought into the country.

You went the wrong direction.

In 16mm 25mm is normal and 15mm or below would be wideangle.

Yep, I made the exact same mistake when I purchased a wide 28mm lens.

It seems that the best wide lens for the K-3 is the Peleng 8mm (f3.5). Do a google search for it and you will find a few places that stock it. Although it is often seen on UK Ebay for £99 which is very cheap!

On another note about wide lenses, I did a little experiment with my new 28mm lens on my K-3 (which is the equivalent of about 50mm). I took one of my camcorder screw-on fish-eye lenses and used a few step-down rings to attach it to my 28mm and this actually gave a nice wide view, i was supprised, it focuses fine too. So is pays to experiment a little.
