New s8 KODAK Emulsion very soon :
Got this from Gilles Podesta ( Kodak France ) in the S8 Festival in Paris ( nobody cared about this in this forum ... ) but Kodak will launch soon the new 7218 ( 500T Vision 2 ) in S8. There will be public projections tomorow in Paris but I'll be working. Already saw tests of this emulsion in my telecine house last week but in 35mm.

I couldn't find any mention of this on Kodaks website, a lot about the new 500T stock , but only says it is being released in 16mm and 35mm, that doesnt meant they arent going to release it in super8 as well though, just cant find any info online.
I personally would like to see 50D and 100T from kodak, it seems to me that lower grain stocks would do better than the extremely high speed high grain stocks, I am basing this on the fact that K40 seems to be the most popular super8 stock, and I know that I would like a nice negative stock with similar grain and more modern colors.I haven't actually done any comparisons of super8 stock grain or characteristics so I could of course be wrong about these stocksbeing more suitable in these respects, but from what I have read I am not :-)

Don't worry about this. This was an official annoucement ( in front of 150 Super8ists ) from one of the most graded guy in the french Kodak enterprise ( I can't exactly remember his exact function ). But look, I wanted kind of a month to see any info on the vision 2 on the kodak website. & trust me, I'm nothing in the french film industry ....
Anyway, talked to colorists of my telecine house & they told me this one is much better than the old ones : way finer grain, ect.... But I personnaly find it still fuzzy in whites.

Anyway, I'd like to had that K40 is still my preferet S8 filmstock. I saw many originals K40 projected in 4meter base with an Elmo GS1200 XENON in the festival & god... it's still does the trick. Beautifull colors, small grain. I love the aesthetic of this emulsion & would stop super8 if this would disappear ( not counting that this is also the cheaper one ).

Kodak confirms launching of Vision2 500T in S8-cartridges
Hi all,
Because I don`t always trust messages like this, I have sent an email to Eastman-Kodak to confirm or to reject the statement that they will finish Vision2 500T color negative stock in Super8 cartridges.
Today, I received a response from Mrs. Heller from the Entertainment Imaging Division of Kodak, Stuttgart here in Germany.
Hold on, it is true!!!!!!
Kodak will finish the Vision2 500T in Super8 cartridges.
But it won`t be this soon!
She says, the stock won`t be available before spring/summer 2003.
So we all have to be a little patient.
I also asked if they will continue the Vision 200T stock in S-8 then. But she couldn`t give an answer to this question at the moment.
It is positive to see that Kodak`s commitment to the format Super8 is not only written on paper and there are announcements like this.
Keep shooting Super8,
Niklas

All this is cool, of course but... What Super8 cameras can handle 500 ASA?
I think most consumer cameras were designed to handle stocks that were available back then, which is mostly K40 & Ektachrome (160?) and the cartridge would tell the camera what it is. At least, that's how my Bauer's work... I know Beaulieu's have a manual setting for sensibility but my 4008 ZMII, for instance, doesn't go beyond 400 ASA. Any help?
