Howdy,
I just purcha
sed a Wide (28mm) lens off ebay, only £10!. It is for my K-3 so it is obviously an M42 pentax screw lens.
Anyway, I recieved the item today and stuck it onto my SLR camera to quickly check it out. What I saw was a beautifull wide view, I was more than satisfied. Now, I then screwed it onto my K-3 (perfect fit), things were looking good until i looked through the viewfinder . It looks no wider than, say, a 50mm lens! What could be wrong?! Do wide lenses not work with K-3's?

Any advice please?
Thanks.
The K-3 is a 16mm camera. right? You are using a lens with a focal length of 28mm. This is close to the 16mm normal lens (which is around 25mm). So, yes, it is a wide angle on your SLR. But to the 16mm camera it is normal view. A 28mm lens is a 28mm lens with whatever format you are using. On your SLR it happens to show a wide angle view, and on the 16mm it happens to show a normal view because of the difference in the frame size. For a 16mm camera you need a 10mm for a wide angle lens.
Thanks for the info, looks like it's back to ebay for a 10mm (or less). Still, it's a very nice lens, beautiful colors compared to the Meteor lens that comes with the K-3. (Can't beat Jap optics )
Actually, one more question: When using an SLR lens on a 16mm, do i still use the same f-stop settings when metering light?

Of course! All the exposure rules stay the same.
Good luck on your search for a wide angle lens for your K-3.
