Hi All,
As I mentioned in a previous post:

I recently purchased the Sony DFW-VL500 firewire progressive scan digital camera. This camera has no means of recording the non-interlaced images, but can be connected via firewire to a computer. For most people, a standard digital camera might be better, because they will be capturing data in realtime. But for those of us who would like to use a Workprinter, this may be the perfect solution.
I wanted to capture non-interlaced digital images frame-by-frame directly into the computer without having to buy your standard camcorder with firewire capabilities. Most camcorders cannot do progressive scan anyway. And even if they can you don't have any extra features such as white balance without paying a lot for it. This camera cost me about $250 off Ebay and you can control zoom, focus, white balance, gain, and a bunch of other function via computer.
Anyway I'm sad to say I do not have a Workprinter so I'll be trying it out with my Goko TC-20. I hope to get a Workprinter in the future, but if anyone in the San Francisco area has one already please let me know for some test work!
The guy I bought my camera from is still selling them on Ebay and will probably go around the same price. Here's the link for those interested:

Interesting. I guess it will depend somewhat on what analogue capture card you will be using in your computer. You get the improved 4.2.2 color as the signal from the camera is analogue rather than digital. The high speed serial firewire cable will bring signal into your computer in the square pixel 640 x 480 format. You'll need a means of converting the info into one of the Mjpeg formats.
Best of luck. I look forward to hearing how your results.
