Cheap film in the UK ?? !! ?? !! The end of an era for me.
Photomart used to sell Kodachrome for £6 a shot. Now I look and it's £11 !!
How did this happen? And what's more, where should I get it from now?
Any tips?

Hi there,
I know, same here (hey you didn't read my post on this then! ;-) ) I had a pile on order with them since January. They obviously weren't ever going to let me know about this either. I tried questioning them on why it had gone up and they said Kodak had put their prices up. I countered this by saying, yes I know, between ten and fifteen percent, not fifty! They just sort of verbally shrugged their shoulders and weren't very forthcomming.
I just noticed in another post that folks are paying as little as $7 a cart from Kodak in the States That's under four pounds!!! Is this true??? If I we could find it at that sort of money, together with discount processing at Hendersons for £4 then that would be just £8 a pop all in for Tri-X
Too good to be true?
Trying to keep shooting the "reel" stuff...

I believe the cheapest UK supply is now http://www.7dayshop.com
£10.25 per K40 cart, flat rate of £1.95 for postage no matter how large/small your order is. No minimum or maximum order size.
I've been buying virtually all my photo supplies from them for 3 years now, they are 99% reliable and in the rare instance of a mistake they always rectify it quickly.
They occasionally have short dated or out of date film (including K40) which they sell in their "warehouse clearance" section at ridiculously cheap prices.
Based in the channel islands so no VAT due.

That's a lousy price. I'd rather get it from Kodak. Is there anywhere on the continent we can get it cheaper? A suplier for bulk, perhaps. I'll ask in a seperate thread. Europe is import tax free, so it makes sense to look further afield.Angus wrote:I believe the cheapest UK supply is now http://www.7dayshop.com

This is a good price (including processing). You will be hard pressed to find a better one. The continent is not tax-free. You pay the local tax and you're not re-taxed when importing it.Lucas Lightfeat wrote:That's a lousy price. I'd rather get it from Kodak. Is there anywhere on the continent we can get it cheaper? Kind regards,

What you need to do is telephone Kodak - I have not bought K40 direct from them but I have bought Vision 200T, and they do not charge any postage for sending it to you next day delivery.
Fuji are the same for 16mm.
Telephone: 01442 845945
Ask for: Dan Clark
Say: I want to buy some film. Say you are after a good deal. They, like anywhere else, will always deal.

What is Kodak's minimum order for buying direct? Do they sell to private individuals - normally such arrangements are for businesses.
7dayshop is the cheapest I have seen offered for a retailer who doesn't ask for a minimum order. I tend to buy 6 or so carts at a time, often less. A syndicate would be a great idea.

I was just wondering if there could be a club purchase of film ie shooting 8mm group or something so we can all get the film a bit cheaper, in that way we may be able to get bigger bulk discounts from kodak and get rid of these rip off prices as seen in photomart.
Im sure kodak would deal with us colectively as they can sell more bulk in one go.
Any ideas guys
Best Regards to all

Hey that sounds like a bargain, where are Hendersons based?

It can't be processed in Europe because U.S. carts can't be processed in Europe by Kodak because it's not process paid.
All European K40 is developed in Switzerland, no other Kodak labs in Europe will develop K40 and if they receive some, it is sent directly to Switzerland, so you may as well send you carts directly to the Swiss address and not use the other addresses printed on the mailer.
