And so is the name Google.

It's only silly when no one else "buys" your product.

BTW, the general public thinks "SUPER 8" is silly because of the name "SUPER" - 16mm never had this problem, nor 8mm for that matter.

Just my two cents.

Super Duper or Super 8 Xtra

Post by Pj »

Are you guys saying that Super Duper sounds silly because I think it does. But I know the 'enlarged gate' is called other names I suppose it depends who you are talking to. I prefer Super 8 Xtra as it sounds more serious.

we wrestled with the name, and in the end I like it, but it sounds like many people have played with their own variation of this idea so I think you can call it whatever you want.

I like the name Hyper8. From markets we got supermarkets, which were big markets. Then the French went and invented hypermarkets, which are monsters. Now they're everywhere, just like Hyper8 cameras.

That sounds like a great price, very tempting...

Are those who offer telecine services (Andreas, Roger, Jukka) able to do super-duper 8 transfers or would they need to modify the gates on their workprinter/sniper/telecine machines so that the whole super-duper 8 frame was visible?
thanks,

thanks,
It´s very easy to modify projector gates, to avoid the transfer of Super-Duper 8 (I prefer call it Super 8 Pan) and standard 1,33 super8. My Bolex SP8 Super 8 projector have this gate enlarged, and to capture the enlarged frame without uot-of-focus sectors, I changed the original lens by a very sharper crystal 16mm projector lens.
Many S8 projectors have a cheap organic lenses with a little bit of chromatic aberration. With these changes that I made the film transfer improved dramatically in quality.

What is the focal length of the 16mm projector lens that you are using? Did you have to modify the projector lens holder of the projector in case the lens was bigger in diameter?
