normal thru gate/shutter? Schneider

Post by Coles4038 »

Hi,

I was cleaning the film gate with air and I ran the camera to open shutter when I saw a line across the lens peering into the gate. I thought it was a crack at first, then a slipped mirror propped at an angle. When I checked this Rollei XL 8 Macro to the Nizo 3056, they both had it.

So, I'm inclined to think it's a Schneider or Nizo design. Anyone know about this. My other cameras are completely clear thru to the lens when peering at the image at the gate. Thanks.

Did you leave the shutter open? (It is possible to let it that way by releasing the main switch on the back of the handle while the camera is running in "lock" mode). If the answer is yes, what you have seen is a slim piece of plastic that is in the shutter's aperture, I do not know for what reason. It's very thin.

Otherwise you might have seen the edges of the built-in conversion filter.
Hope this helps.
