Just bought a B&H 1227 Super 8 camera from eBay. All seem to work, I bought and Kodak B/W Super 8 Cartridge, reversable.... but when I push the trigger to film, nothing happens.... so I wonder maybe that I've got the wrong film... or could it be some mechanical trouble. The one I bought it from had never used it for app. 20 years... then it worked fine...

Bell & Howell 1227 Super 8 Camera. Anyone knows that ??

Have you put good batteries in?
Are the contacts clean?
Is the on switch on?
Is the speedset correctly?
If all this fails take it apart.
I have a B7H 1218 that works OK so I have not had it in bits. I took the built in handle off, on this model it holds the batteries to see if it would work without. It would not, but there are contacts between the grip and the camera.
I fixed a basic electric Bell and Howell, except the lense is out of place so it is useless except for checking reloadable super-8 cartridges.
If all elese fails dispaly it on a shelf, put it down to experience and buy another camera, there are plenty out there.

New web site and this is cine page http://www.picsntech.co.uk/cine.html
when I intend to buy a camera from ebay I always ask the seller first if he recently put some batteries in it and let it run. often they assure me that it surely runs cause it did ten or twenty years ago when they used it for the last time. This is a pure unreliable indication. cameras are made for to be used. Not using them doesn't mean it remains intact. All kinds of things can happen to it when not in use, especially when not stored in a dry room with roomtemperature (like in the attic or in a box in the cellar, garage etc.; this is asking for trouble). Twice, when I asked again for to test it, and they did, it appeared that the camera didn't work at all. So always ask if the camera was tested recently and don't buy the "it did twenty years ago..".
just a tip,
Paul
P.S.
the same goes for the "never used" item. Apparantly, a lot of buyers on ebay pay more because of these two words, because they think it is the same as "new", while they really should get suspicious and double check the seller if it is really still running.

Thanks for good advices....Yes, I have tried cleaning .. I will try to look up a Service Manuel on the web, cause I can't figure out how to dis assembly (!) the camera... seem to be some hidden screws or something....
Now the sound-bit works, but I don't know where I can buy Super 8 Film with sound.... only silent films here in Norway.... you know about something ?
Thank You

Unfortunately Kodak discontinued sound film in 1997. Your camera will accept silent film cartridges so all is not lost.
For more info on how to add sound to silent films, click on the "sound" link at the top of this page. There is (were?) some people selling Kodak sound carts online for $45 a cart, but I don't know if they have exhausted their stock yet or not. You can visit their site at: http://www.Javaphoto.com and click on the "photo" link for more information.
Good luck.
