Compendiums (EWA KOMPENDIUM TYPE EWA S8K)

Post by sunrise »

Compendiums have not been discussed recently on this forum. I know absolutely nothing about them, apart from their purpose.

But, what makes a good compendium?

Which compendiums are suitable with certain cameras?

How do I mount a compendium to a camera in the best way?

For starters, what would a good compendium be for a beaulieu 7008?

Any input appreciated.

Might shed some light on the subject.

Mikael,

most of those threads have missing pictures and are really a discussion of custom build things. I was more into finding a compendium that fitted my camera without too much constructing on my part.

Does anyone have experience with the EWA KOMPENDIUM TYPE EWA S8K?

Seems to be pretty much available and affordable, but is it any good?

cheers

No, not for months... However, I'm going to Portugal for 1 week in April and then I hope to get 5 days of clean surfable waves.

cool, i've been using the cokin filter system since forever in still phography since the filters are very affordable and easy to find, but their lens shade system has always sucked. i'll look into this one for my super 8 camera for sure. i just have to build a separate support system since the lens rotates when i focus, like on most film cameras. not hard though since the system uses a mounting ring that you're supposed to screw onto your lens and then hook the matte box to, so it's just a matter of glueing that to the rods system i'm already working on.

I believe they are more commonly seen in Europe than the States, but if you don't mind the postage costs...

Do the filters on the accordian box thing have the same effect as the ones you screw on to the camera without the box thing? -in time Im sure mt questions will become less moronic-

Im guessing they would be much cheaper. I bought some screw on filters (red and polarizing) for my canon and was very taken aback by how expensive they were.

they work the same, and yes, they are much less expensive (colored filter $5-10, diffusion/net $10-15, sfx $20-30 perhaps). you can get them in any photo store. ask for cokin filters, or search on google.

Mattias, more questions.
So I saw someone write that polarizing filters make the sky more blue etc.? I thought they were for tking the reflections of glass if for example your shooting through a car window?
Also what are red filters for, do they give everything a red tinge or do they filter out the red part of the light spectrum and when/why would you use them???

All these questions ye will have to start billing me soon :)
