Looking for a Minolta XL 64 for parts. I need the little solenoid inside. I'd really like to fix this camera since it is the best one I've got.
It really is a silly design to have a mechanical trigger engage an electric solenoid only for the solenoid to move another mechanical lever again. Over-engineered in my opinion.
Also while I was inside the camera I noticed that this camera will run at 24 fps like the 84 model. You simply need to pluck out the plastic casting from behind the outer shell that prevents the dial from turning to the 24 spot on the circuit board. Seems they made the same camera for both models and charge more in price for features they allowed you to use. There may be more features on the 84 that I'm not aware of since I don't have a 84 model to compare. I have not tested this with film for obvious reasons but if it dosen't work simply set the dial back to 18 fps. I did however over-ride the solenoid and the motor did speed up as I turned the dial from 18 to the newly made position.
