S8W, I find the "super 8" talk redundant. How super 8 was this in the 70's or how it's being used for this now. Say it once, that's all you need. Move on to your sevices and make it clear like you did on your last post.

Too much "preachin' to the choir" so to speak.

Oh yes, the double headline?

All PAL video players are NTSC playback compatible these days, so there's no need to do a conversion - it tends to look much worse on PAL when converted anyway.

What about the television monitor?

PAL TVs do tend to oversaturate the colours a little, it's true. I've never seen an NTSC projector over here though - doubt this will happen at a festival/competition here - best send a film print, then you'll outperform all the telecine entrants. Hah!

One other thing that could prove useful.

Get a commitment of matching funds. Whatever is brought in via membership will be "matched" or perhaps doubled etc by a corporate sponsor.

The Super 8 Workshop

I agree with getting commitment from others like Kodak, maybe the Arts council and businesses like Pro 8. And thats what we are trying to sort out at the minute but memmbership is vital for getting these big guys interested. They need to see that something big is happening from where they have the potential of making money.

As far as Pal and NSTC go well most Pal systems can play NSTC - I am not sure of the quality. But what we really want to do is play prints at the festival/competition whether they are Super 8, 16mm / or 35mm. We are exploring systems to produce quality blow up prints. At the moment we are putting together a DVD of telecine tranfers that we have done and Super 8 to Super 8 optical printing. We are not a big company where we can just produce DVD's and send them out at request to anyone so membership is vital.

Once again about being unclear or vague - we are not website designers and it has taken us a lot of time to get this far so any comments would be welcomed. If anyone knows of a better/cheaper system than Paypal please tell us.

I doubt you'd raise more than a thousand or two thousand dollars from memberships while starting up. If you are able to offer super 8 services such as rank transfers and are willing to both offer a good price AND "donate" a portion of each transfer into developing your concept you will be much farther along.

Biographies of those involved in your collective is essential before asking for membership fees. Without the prominent attachment of names of humans involved in this endeavor asking for a membership fee is inappropriate at this time.

As for web design, you should consider pre-made templates if you don't have web designer in your group. My website uses a rather ultra simple template design that I purchased from my domain host for well under a hundred dollars.
