Equivalent focal lengths between s8, 16, and Academy full Ap

Post by souper8 »

Do you guys have a chart of equivalent focal lengths or know the math conversion? I was thinking about using a director's viewfinder ,but they only mark them with 16 and 35mm film markings. Thanks

The math is pretty easy. The "normal" lens for a 16mm camera is 25mm. The normal lens for super 8 (being about half the width) is 12mm. The normal lens for 35mm is really about 45-48mm for motion picture work but most people settle on 50mm, the same as you would use on a Nikon or other still camera. So, as you can see, the math is basically taking one format and doubling or dividing by 50% to get the equivalent.
