anyone selling a beaulieu s2008 or 4008?

Post by alfredbot9000 »

i am in dire need of a working beaulieu s2008 or 4008. we are shooint a music video for a national act it the storyline requires super8. i had a deal set up with ericmartinjarvies, but i haven't gotten a reply back from him in a month. i really dont want to use ebay because every one that they sell on their is sold "as is" and usually with no battery. I am looking for one that is gauranteed to work. please help me out here or at least try.

I have a 5008 beaulieu for sale, which is just as comproable to the 2008/4008s.
You'd have to get a battery and grip for it, or make a nicad battery back, fabricate a grip (I made a grip for a 3008 using a plumbing pipe) or just mount it on a tripod or monopod.

I have a 2008 that I bought off eBay that has a dead light meter and a slight yellow tint when you view through the viewfinder. I recelled the battery and it works fine if you can live with the known defects. I painted it bright red and it looks cool :D I will post a picture if you are interested.

the only defects are the yellow tint in the viewfinder (doesn't affect anything does it?) and the dead light meter? how much?

I hesitate to charge too much for it since I have not shot film with it. Even as a parts camera with the recelled battery I am sure I could get $80.00 for it on eBay. I have another guy asking about it and I will tell him the same. I would prefer to post pictures before I accept any buyers.

sorry ... i have been ultra swamped with pre production issues regarding my movie. falling way behind my original and planned schedule for all kinds of reasons. none hte less, i have boxes of beaulieu, gsmo, and eclair cameras/parts/etc., so if you need some parts to fix up paul's camera(should you purchase it), then i can easily get those to you. i just do not have the time to actually recondition any of those cameras and get them working properly. i still have someone's little eumig nautica i need to repair and send back ... and i had thought i would have time by now, but no go. i am moving into my new post production suite next weekend, and then i will have room to spread all my things about, unlike now wherein everything is stacked to the ceiling, and hard to access, and too cluttered to work on in here(clutter is mind boggling).

but alas, i do not feel that bad ... i sent my eclair acl ii camera to my bernie o. in boston 5 months ago(almost 6), and he is just now almost completed with my camera. so if he does this stuff for a living, and that is any indication of his work flow and turn around time, it makes me not feel so bad about how long some of my own projects have been waiting.

eric: thank you for the offer of parts (if i purchase paul's), but the fact remains that i would not know how to go about fixing the camera up. did you ever finish that booklet about how to fix up beaulieu 2008s and 4008s?

disjecta: thank you for the compliments on the demo reel. i didn't edit it, matt did(one of the other directors). that kid is a freaking final cut guru. final cut and photoshop were only programs used in making that demo reel....no, we didn't use after effects (this has actually shocked people that we made it without AE).
