Pressure Plate User Poll

well i ordered one. it seems to be a logical solution to many of the peve's in super 8. i've searched around and read many good things about it.. including (and i hope someone can second it) that streaking is reduced by having a smoother surface on the back of the film, as opposed to the plastic in the cart. but keep up the comments if you have used one.. soon i will be adding mine

I'd like to buy one, too, but the lowest price I can find is $155 euros (delivered). Not so bad if I lived in europe, maybe, but here in Canada, that's $260 !!! A direct order from GK who makes it must include a hefty wire transfer charge on top of his "$145" price. Is he specifying US dollars or Euros in that quote? Anybody order from him?
T-scan -- where did you end up buying from and what was the total cost?

fujica plate in s8
Wasn't there once an idea to use a pressure plate from a Fujica (broken, dis-used and/or cheap). Just glue on some notches to line up with the grooves in the original S8 cartrdige palte and hold it in place as the film travels by. Could even use two-sided foamy adhesive tape for experiments.
I'll give it a try on a Kaccema when I find a cheap Fujica. These Kaccema have easy access to their plate but hardly need it as they have already have metal plates.
