Annoying Vertical Lines of Light

Post by jeesss »

I just got back eight rolls of film only to find that most of the film had annoying lines of light running vertically across the screen. This sucks! Does anybody know what I'm talking about? And if so does anyone know how to fix it. Some of the footage turned out perfectly. I used my light meter on auto. I have a pretty nice Ricoh 800z. My light meter battery was low, would that have anything to do with it? It makes me upset. Oh, well. Not sure about Super 8 anymore. Too much of a hassle. Might try another few rolls, but......

Oh, yeah and I used Kodachrome 40, and it was shot outside.
Can anyone help? :x

thank you,

It sounds like scratches. They could have been from the cam or from processing. Look at the emulsion side of the film. Can you see anything?

Good Luck

Are the light bars blue and show up every few seconds?

I had that problem with some dbl super 8 K25 100 ft roll.

Someone told me it was because they didn't wait for the film to temperature stabalize before they processed it.

Just realized you said vertically across the screen. Mine were horizintal across the screen.
