Single-8
Reload of Single-8 cartridges is possible and can be done by everyone without the need of any special tooling! You do not need to open the cartridges, new film can be tape-spliced to the originally loaded film. You can use your Single-8 cartridges again and again and again ....
Yust tear out the old film from the cartridge (there is no locking mechanism like in Super-8 cartridges), cut it off (let abt. 50 cm of the original film at the beginning and at the end), splice the new film and wind the new film back into the cartridge.
I personally do not load Kodak films because noone would develop this reloaded cartridges - especially not Kodak. I use Fomapan black/white DS8 stock and do reversal development myselfe.

I like that idea for single-8 cartridges.
I assume you split the double super-8 stock in the dark.
How many metres of film can you load into the single-8 cartridge as I believe fuji film was on a thinner stock than normal?
There are Russian reloadable super-8 cartridges around. I have two but have yet to try them out.
Now my must do list is:
Try processing single-8
Try splitting double super-8
Try loading super-8 cartridge
Try loading single-8 cartridge
At this rate I will not have time to find a job!
