Bauer S 209 XL , which batteries ?

Hi,
Recently I bought a Bauer S 209 ( in excellent condition ) at ebay for 16 Eur But I havn`t a manual.
Shall I use rechargeable batteries ( as for the Nizo 6080 ) or alkaline 1,5 V ? How does the battery test function ?

i bought one of these from bart sanders (top guy) in the netherlands, and he recommended i didn't, advice i followed, mainly due to the difference in voltage. also, remember, that the cost of film is relatively much higher than the cost of the batteries. i've been using the same set of batteries for quite a while now and they're still going strong. imho, stick to normal batteries. by the way, great choice you made and so cheap!

I have the 715 and use normal 1.5v batteries. Everything goes great. It have a little button on the cartidge door side to test the charge of the batteries (the camera must be ON).

The manual of the Bauer 207/209 XL-S states to use regular 1.5v AA batteries.

my main camera is a nizo 4080 (same as 6080 minus useless features.) i used to use 1.2 volt rechargeable ni-cads, which is what you're supposed to use. once, a doc crew was in my town and their beaulieu died. (they were shooting b/w s8 for the "historical recreation" part of their doc.) they knew someone who knew me, and arranged to rent my 4080. trouble was, my ni-cads weren't charged, and they needed to shoot. i refused to let them use 6 1.5v alkalines in my camera, as these nizos tend to be very sensitive to that kind of thing. so, the show's gaffer took a bolt, maybe 1/4" in diameter, the length of an aa battery, and wrapped gaffer's tape around it until it was the same width as a battery. now, i use the "dummy" battery, with 5 normal 1.5's, for a total voltage much closer to the recommended voltage (7.5 vs 7.2) this is a wonderful thing, and anyone using a camera that runs on 1.2's should do this. this is sort of only semi-relevant to the original post, since it seems the 209 wants 1.5's, but i thought i should share this with other nizo types. really easy to make, and you can use normal batteries. btw, the doc was on john dillinger, and the scene they shot with my camera was when he was gunned down outside the movie theater. it aired on pbs.

At the time when most Super-8 cameras were built, there were no such things as rechargable NiCd or NiMh batteries (or they were very rare and high priced) so everything was run with standard AA batteries.

Today you can use both - but rechargable cells´s power doesn´t last as long as standard batteries.

This camera has a fine macro objective. One can change from each focal length directly into the macro range , better than with the Nizo`s .

Glad you noticed that The way that Macro is implemented in the Bauer 207/209 is indeed quite excellent and beats many others. These are fine cameras.
