Eumig 610 D video transfer

Post by chesmo »

Hello,
Newbie here. Thanks for all the great posts. Looking to transfer some 8mm to video and the old broken Argus Showmaster 500 I have, isn't giving the best results. I've imported some some files and burned them to disc, so I was pretty happy that I could do just that. Not too acceptable, but for my first try, not too bad I think. Was thinking of getting this Eumig 610D.......

Was wondering if the speed adjustment would allow me control to reduce the flickering. The little viewer looks kinda neat, too. Searched the manuals but couldn't quite get the information I needed. Being unable to translate posed a little problem as well(grin). Was wondering if this Eumig model would get me going? I'm transferring thru a Sony Hi8 firewire port directly to Premiere 6.0. Looking for something I can work with and give a personal touch to some CD's or DVD's. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Of course, price is always an issue. Sorry for the long post.

Thank you,

Ches

I use a 607D - same machine but less features - and at 18fps into a hi-8 camera it works fine. Only problem is with a new bulb there is a light spot for which Old Uncle Barry has offered a suggestion I will be trying.

The standard lense is a f1.6 zoom. I also have a f1.0 but found the results are no better for transferring. Certainly better on the big screen though.

Set up and examples can be seen on my web site - well whats a forum for if one does not blow ones own trumpet!

Thank you Sir.

:D Matt smooth white paper seems to be the best. Last time I tried glossy and the results were a lump of light. I have tried silver card, but no go.
