Any suggestions for which rechargable batteries to pick in combination with a recharger. What should I specially watch out for when buying these; which brand is best?? Is NiHm better than NiCa??
Of course I will need these batteries for my super8 camera's.
Thanks,
Paul

If you don't discharge a NiCd battery all the way before recharging it the battery will run out of power much sooner, so basically you can't top off your batteries, you have to use them until they are totally gone (unless you want to replace your batteries often) This is a very bad thing when using super8 cameras because unless you have one of the newer models with a voltage regulator the voltage of the battery can effect the light meter and the running speed of the camera so it is best to keep fully charged batteries (especially with rechargable batteries which have a lower rated voltage than standard AA's 1.2v instead of 1.5v)paul wrote:what's memory effect?

From what I've been told by several people including my father(chemist), is that memory is not an issue when charging and discharging NiMH batteries. You can recharge them however often you like regardless of the amount of power left from the previous charge. Look for NiMH batteries with 1500mah or higher. I just had my Canon Scoopic batteries recelled with NiMH 1500mah. I had mine recelled for $61.CDN each which converts to $38.USD. An outfit on ebay is charging about $100.USD to recell one scoopic battery.
