vision negative films

Post by rurgis »

hi!

first of all.... is the long awaited vision2 500T available for super8 now?

then- can anyone tell me about the k40 v.s. the vision 200 and/ or the vision2 500 transfered at the facilities at andec or the widescreen center?

how is the grain and the colors?

doing a project with super16 and will use the 7284 pulled one stop, wanting to achieve a cold, pastel look of winter spendt in an clinic...
as a contrast to this i will do a sequence of flashbacks with super8.
the images will represent both present and past, and i want to keep it more saturated than the rest of the film.
will shoot in some low- light situations, but will have the chance to use lights most of the time, so speed is not my main concern.

how are the grains in k40, compared to the 7284(normal, or pull procecced)- both transferred on da vinchi, or simmilar pro equip?

anyone seen super 8 vision stock(s), used together with higher speed 16mm kodak stocks (preferably the 7284)?

unfortuanetly there is no budget for blow ups, or prints, so no need for taking theese issues into consideration.....yet:)

tremendously gratefull for any help...

two or three thoughts on your project:

speed quickly becomes your main concern with K40.. but i guess if you shoot a film on super16, you know what doing night shots with anything below 100ASA means.

why pull the 7284? it usually costs quite a bit more... and you need more light. if you only go to telecine, color and contrast can be easily adjusted at the machine, and grain is a non issue if you have a good machine and overexpose a bit. i've just transfered some super16 7279 (old vision 500) on a spirit and you hardly can see the grain.. even though we switched off the grain reducer.

K40 is great for flashbacks, since the color remind us of the 60ies/70ies anyway... if you have a decent telecine operator and a bit of time, you can of course get it more neutral or transfor it to a completely different look...

i've never used 200T in super8, but in 16mm (which is the same stock) it's a very fine grained, kinda colorful stock with quite high contrast.
