nizo tripod fitting
:?:
hello
just starting in super 8, bought a bunch of cameras, which i'm testing. One of them is a Nizo 801 Macro. Have I an odd one, or is the tripod fitting screw different on all of them to other cameras. I dont have mains power, only the batteries. Can anyone advise on the tripod fitting?
plus.,
Rollei sl 82, if the exposure meter stays still, is it dead?
thanks in advance

How is it different? If it looks like it is simply larger than it is a standard tripod fitting just not the one used on most consumer cameras, many larger cameras I have seen use the larger size, I cant remember what thea ctual size is off the top of my head, but some tripods suport both, and some support just the bigger as well. I have seen adapters to use one type of tripod with the other, but some I have seen will greatly reduce the stability of the camera. If you use a bogen tripod or something similar with interchangable heads and/or a quick release plate it shouldnt be hard to get setup to use the larger one without spending to much money, although bogen tripods are rather expensive to begin with of course. If I remember correctly the one Nizo I have played with had fittings in the bottom of it for both types of tripods.

tripod fitting follow up
thanks for that info jessh, i wasnt aware that there was a larger tripod screw, the problem i have with the Nizo is --with the handle in the down position, the larger tripod screw is on the bottom of the handle and can be mounted(not very stable), the smaller tripod screw can be used with the handle up(but the battery connections are in the handle), so i need a little cable.
i've seen a nizo shoulder pod on ebay, which is used with the handle down, but i have yet to see the little cable.
Has anyone?
Anyone have one of these cables?

Re: tripod fitting follow up
what keeps the camera from working with the handle up? What exactly would this cable you need do? Sorry but i don't know the camera.guest wrote:the smaller tripod screw can be used with the handle up(but the battery connections are in the handle), so i need a little cable.

the handle carrys the batteries in a special holder which has positive and neg connections, that connect(with the handle in the down position) with connections on the camera body. With the handle swung up, the batteries disconnect from the body(no power to the camera). With the handle swung up, another tripod fitting(1/2"), can be used(looks more stable than the fitting on the handle bottom), the camera has a connection for an external power source. i've been told a wire connection from the battery box can be connected to this external socket. I dont have this cable or the external power source, so am unable to use the more stable tripod connection.
as an additional question has anyone bought the "EX-POWER" battery pack, being sold by the widescreen centre, UK ?

What do the connections look like? Is there a socket on the handle that the cable you are describing would hook into? or are there just pieces of exposed metal that connect when the handle is down? If there are sockets of some sort I could probably build you the cable you need. Any way you can email me a picture of it? Where are you located?

thanks for the offer, im in the UK, i'm not desperate for the cable.i'll keep an eye out for one or the external power source.
both the battery terminals and the socket for the external power are both, what i would call 'non-standard', is there a way to send you the photos through the forum, or do i need your email?
thanks

I know you can post photos to the forum, but I believe it may require posting them to a webserver somewhere, I really dont know how. If you want to email them to me you can send them to jessh@lbjhs.netnathan wrote:is there a way to send you the photos through the forum, or do i need your email?

Nizo Tripod Set
The cable you're looking for was sold as a kit including the cable, a cover plate with a hole in the middle (for access to the second tripod mount) and a battery box lid (with slightly modified connectors)
You can see the cable here in an image of a camera kit I sold a while back.
