Help!!! Chinon C8-C60 Pocket 8 Direct Video

Would someone please help me on this problem. I misplaced the manual, and I don't know how to get out of this standby/pause recording mode.

I have an AF Pocket 8, Chinon C8-C60 Direct Video camcorder (1987).

Recently while prepare shooting, I probably press the "STANDBY" mode at the recording, because of a letter "P" appears on LCD. Since then, I
could not get out of this mode. This will blank CCD viewfinder, blocks
any recorded scence viewing thru CCD viewfinder, and in turn prohibits me to record any subject.

I tried to remove/reinsert the tape, turned power off/on... but letter
"P" still appears on LCD at recording mode. I switched from "CAMERA" to "VCR" mode, letter "P" disappears, and I can play back the tape. But
switching back to "CAMERA" mode, letter "P" reappears. I press the record button,letter "P" disappears, camcorder seems to be in record mode, but nothing would be seen on CCD viewfinder except a blank scrren, and of course, recording nothing.

If I remove the tape, place camcorder in "CAMERA" mode, I can see
subjects thru CCD viewfinder. But if I insert the tape, a second later,
subjects disappear on CCD viewfinder, and LCD shows letter "P" again,
informs me that camcorder is in pause/standby mode.

Someone please show me how to get out of this pause/standby mode. I am looking for manual and cannot locate any nearby. Thanks.
