C mount cameras

Post by skyliner »

I have a beaulieu 5008s. which I thought would be the solution to my quest for lens adaptability. ie I can use all my Olympus stuff on it as well as the Schneider.
It is a pain in the ass though: needs constant attention like a vintage car.

What other c-mount super-8 s are avaiable which can offer me point and squirt reliability.
Alternatively has anyone modified another camera to take c-mount?

I wish there were C-mount cameras that match that kind of description. That's what has made me pass on Beaulieu -- it seems kind of pointless to keep forking out money and waiting around when I can get a variety of great cams with Schneider, Nikon, Canon, Angeniuex, and even Zeiss lenses that all work pretty reliably with very little if any upkeep costs.

It's a short list for interchangeable lens super 8's. Other than your cam, ones I know about are

Nalcom FLT 1000 - not a c-mount but m42. Likely you can get an adaptor. There's a good looking one on ebay right now.

Leicina Special - one of my dream cameras. Again, not a C mount, but a Leica mount (obviously, I guess). There's two on ebay.de right now. I haven't done a translation, but it looks like one might come with a variety of adaptor rings.

Fuji ZC1000 -- is C-mount. Requires adopting a different format with fuji single 8 that's a lot more costly overall (unless you live in Japan, I guess). Looks like an "ultimate 8mm camera" of sorts, that's for sure!

Bolex Double Super 8 - C-mount. Again, a slight change in format, however Paul Cotto's perf machine seems to be making viable again.

I don't know if we can call these cameras more point and squirt low-maintenance or not.

There's also the Pathe DS-8 cameras. Kinda rare to come across, but C-mount nonetheless.
