Hello all. I have just recently received a Nizo 4080 that I bought on eBay and I can not figure out how to make it work or if it is just broken. I have translated the instruction manual and that has not helped much.
As far as I can tell it uses 3x 1.2 Volt AA batteries, which I have tried.
Here is the eBay page:

Thanks for any help!

Don't you mean 6 AA batteries of the 1.2V NiCd variety? :?: I can guarantee you that it won't work properly with just 3... This may seem obvious, but check and make sure the batteries are fully charged too.As far as I can tell it uses 3x 1.2 Volt AA batteries, which I have tried.
There is a release on the bottom side of the handle that must be pushed in for the camera to be powered, so make sure you are pressing it before trying to run it. Check and see if any functions work like the meter, battery test light, running lights, or the filter light too.
There is a manual for the Nizo 6080 on this site in English which may be better than a translated one. The 6080 and 4080 are very similar cameras and share many functions and features.
Hope this helps.

Hi there,
The 4080 actually needs six 1.2V cells for operation. It's important to use either Ni-Cad or Ni-MH re-chargeable cells as they were designed to run with these (a voltage of 7.2V) and not standard disposable cells which would give you 9V.
If this doesn't bring it to life, then double check the contacts on the battery pack and in the hand-grip are clean and free from corrosion. The other thing might be the master switch. This is the plastic trip under the hand-grip. unless this is held in, nothing will operate.(mine sometimes likes to pop itself out when you release it and has to be clicked back into place!) On pressing it you will hear a brief faint noise and you should just beable to hear the iris mechanism operate as you point it in and out of bright light too! With the master switch held in (you can lock it with the little slide catch) then pressing the centre of the rear selector knob will illuminate a green light in the viewfinder if the battery is OK.
Good Luck and I hope it comes to life!
Cheers,
Ben
