Well,
I got a Nizo 6080 this summer. I remember reading somewhere that they could only be used with a certain kind of rechargeable batteries. If they weren't, then the light meter would break, or something. I was in a hurry the other day, and I got Rayovac Rechargeable Nimh 1.2v AA batts. Then in tiny letters it says 1800 mAH. Are these okay? I just want to make sure. Thanks!
Did I use the right batteries?? Nizo 6080

Hi.
It is the cell voltage (1.2v) which decides the conformity.
The mAh value is a figure for the capacity/duration of the battery.
Thus these cells will match your cam if the originals were 1.2v NiCd cells.

Your batteries are OK. They match.Corey D. wrote:It doesn't say 1.2v NiCd cell on the battery. Just 1.2v. I didn't see any batteries at the store that were NiCd. I just thought that's what rechargeble batteries did.
So should I not use these batteries. I actually did shoot 50' with them.
Any 1.2v cells are a perfect match.
You should presumeably avoid 1.5v dry cells only.

I encountered this same question with regards to my sound Nizo. I chose to spend the extra money on the NiMh batteries. They're simply superior in every way to NiCad and are interchangeable in nearly any application I've heard of -- but they cost a lot more.
If your batteries are rated a 1.2v, they will read Nickel-Metal Hydride or an abreviation for that somewhere on the battery. And they do. Also, if you're going to be recharging them, you need to know if they are Nickel-Metal Hydride or Nickel-Cadmium for your recharger. Battery chargers have a switch that requires you to pick the type of battery you are charging.
I'm of the personal opinion that the main reason that sound Nizos have gained a vague rep. for developing eletrical gremlins from time to time is because of people just throwing in 1.5v Alkalines in the box. That 20% or so increase in voltage over what the camera -- and most importantly the lightmeter -- is designed to operate at, can't be a good thing.

1.2volt Nickel metal Hydride are the best, NiCad are OK. Don't use normal 1.5volt non-rechargeable batteries as this can bugger up the light meter on these Nizos. Also, don't recharge the NiMH batteries in the camera, as they didn't exist when the camera was made, and the camera recharging facility is intended only for NiCad batteries.
Basically, I agree entirely with the above post, but reiterated it for extra clarity.
