The size of the sprockets is one of the major reasons R-8mm almost never has torn sprocket holes in prints, whereas S-8mm prints often get damaged over time when projected. A good quality R-8mm projector (often works of art in themselves) will never damage your R-8mm film if kept clean. I have personal home movies I took over twenty years ago in R-8mm that have been projected over 50 times and still look like the day I got them back from processing. It is a great medium for archival type of filming such as family stuff.
