anyone wanna trade some filmstock??

Post by Sonic Truth »

I have got three 100ft rolls of Double X 7222 16mm black and white film

Its double perforated and was bought in about 2000, and stored in a fridge.

Would anyone like to trade these rolls for some super 8 film, especially non-K40.
Ive never tried any black and white super 8 or the vision neg stuff, so if someone wants to do a trade it would be cool!

im in the UK.

Cheers

SImon.

PS, double X was used for Raging Bull, to give you an idea of what it looks like.

I have two 100 ft rolls of Plus-X (7276) 16mm reversal. I'd be willing to trade for some super8 film. Any stock. 2 for 2 ?

Sonic, let me know if I need to "get my own thread". :D

Double X was used on Raging Bull?!? Wow that is a great tidbit. I've
never shot Double X before.

Sorry not interested in a trade. Canada Post has such ripoff rates that
the cost of mailing is just not effective. :x

maybe, i should just save up for a 16mm camera, and shoot the Double X myself!!

its a negative film too, so maybe it wouldnt be too hard to process myself.

Paul, Double-X is black and white negative film. I got several rolls of this in 16mm but it is old and was not stored properly. It will eventually end up being leader so I can use the spools.

I am interested in your 16mm plus X. I've got a couple of carts of 7240 VNF. Interested?

For 16mm I've got:
-4 vision 250D(100')
-4 plus x neg(100')
-5 50D EXR(100')
-7 vision 200T(100')
-1 Double X(100')
-1 7240 VNF(100')
-1 7297 daylight(100')
-2 vision 320T (400')
-1 7251 ektachrome(400')
-1 fuji F250T(400')
-1 fuji F400T(400')
-7 7292 eastman 320T(400')

I find I have too much of a variety. It would look mighty strange to view a feature film shot on such a wide range of stocks. I have to decide if I want to do several shorts, 1 feature, or sell most of it and buy 1 stock in particular. Does anyone know how this fuji stock compares to kodak stock of the same ASA and type.

i've filmed a shortfilm on super16 on 6 different stocks once because we got it all for free, this was all kodak, 50D - 100T - 200T - 250D - 320T - 500T (the old vision 7279)...
they actually intercut very well, just make sure that you use only one stock for one complete scene. you can actually use this as a creative tool too, for example i've shot all scenes in the library with 320T for very monochrome clean look while the cheerful outdoor scenes where filmed on 100T (bright sun) or 50D (overcast).

we're planning to do the blow-up next month, so i'm curious how it looks there.

as for the fuji stock, it's very much a personal matter.. some hate them, some love them... very few have really good reasons ;)
grain is said to be *slightly* bigger at same speed (i find this hard to see), colors are a bit different (you have to check yourself, print stock is just as important though)... some loaders were telling me that the fuji stock is a bit "louder" and it's more difficult to keep the gate clean.

but hey, it's cheaper ;)
