If I'm not mistaken, those HD cameras cost something like 600 to 1000 US$ a day to rent. I saw that movie last night. Image quality is subjective, but if I had the money to use what the same Hd cam, and had to shoot too much footage to make 16mm practicle, I would still go with super8.

Thums up on look, Thums down of flick

Could cortometrajes69 be talking about the lighting and in camera filtration plus the post production twicking? Same tules are available in film.

I saw R.R. movie this weekend, nothing worth remembering in 20 years.
He's seem's to playing all the right notes, but just does not have the melody down. I'm not saying that just because he shot in HI Def.
I might be getting tired of cartoon flicks, over the top violance. It is a perfect example of targeting a script to a demographic, and that possibly is it's gratest weakness.

I wasn't aware that Sergio Leone coined the phrase "Once upon a time..."?

He didn't... but you can be sure it's because of Mr Leone that Mr Roderiguez has named his film 'Once Upon a Time in Mexio'!

There's no need to speculate about the origin of the "Once Upon a Time" title of Rodriguez's film. The tale told by Roberto is that Q-ball (Quentin Tarantino) told HD-Rod that he ought to write a final movie for El Mariachi, one that brings the epic nature of Leone's work to the table - the typical postmodern pastiche that Q-ball does so well.
