walmart processing

I think Walmart just likes screwing with people, and that is the only reason they offer the service :-) The difficulties some pople have could of course be intentional, because I doubt Walmart makes any money offering it for such a low price and then sending it out, they may even loose money. So who knows, they could just screw with people who use it to try and get them not to :-)
okay enough of my conspiracy theories for now....

Of course -- go to http://www.happyd.com. They provide excellent service. Dealing with them directly will be more expensive (I think it's about $9.00/roll) but they're great people and will take good care of you.[/quote]
i tried the link but it doesnt work... could you double check that for me??

I had 2 carts of k40 come back from walmart in Mountain View unprocessed, with the sticker on it that said "service not availabe" and "undeveloped" on it.
They send all k40 carts to fuji in hayward, and they in turn send it to Dwanes I think.
After a few calls, they did confirm that they do handle the film, and I guess I chalk it up to someone's incompetence at Fuji in Hayward.
I have had about 5 rolls come back from those folks ok before this.
You can call Fuji in Hayward directly, their number is actually on the drop-off envelope tag.

I've only done preliminary checks on using Wal-Mart in my area (Dallas). I've visited two of the Wal-Marts in the area to have a look at the photo booth area. Sure enough, in the pamphlet was listed "Movie Film Processing" for $4.95. Asking the person behind the counter, though, is a whole 'nother animal. They give you that "deer in the headlights" look, and ask you to come back tomorrow at such-and-such time, when they "expert" will be there. Hmff. I haven't gotten around to it, but I will, b/c I would like to have that "ease of use" thing with Wal-Mart by just being able to drop it off. Perhaps even know the photo person by name. "Here ya go, Bob, just finished off another roll of K-40. You know what to do with it..."

Walmart Super8 Processing

I could not trace Fuji in Hayward. Maybe they are only "wholesale" to Walmart and other big clients? Do you have Fuji's name & address or other contact info?
Are you still going to use Walmart? I am guessing, possibly only through Walmart, will you get that $Low Price$ for S8 movie processing. I would think you have to clearly mark the processing envelope and maybe even staple a large note to it, with big, clearly printed text, explaining what it is and other info. It does not hurt to do a bit of "overkill" with the "communications" aspects. Remember ..... "Super8 film" to today's new digitally weaned masses, is something Prehistoric to them !

Fuji in Haward Calif. is:
1 800 999 4686
I think that they just process and send out other chains film, like from walmart and the like.
Walmat / fuji is starting to annoy me. It semes they just lost 2 of my k40 carts. The people at fuji in Hayward are all ex-burger flippers it seems, which is actually a step up from the people who are behind the counter at walmart.
I'm going to try my luck at target, and also with the new k40 prepaid mailers from kodak.

Walmart processing and Target too?
Thanks for Fuji contact info. I am here in SF bay area but not as many Walmarts as there are Targets. We got a whole bunch of them here. I did not know Target offers to be middlemen (like Walmart) for Super8 processing? I assume Super8 processing is something Target does not usually pubically post in their stores or one has to ask them specifically for listing of all photo/film services they offer?
yes, go to target and check it out. I have never used target. But, they DO process ektachrome film. As opposed to walmart which only does kodachrome. Target charges a flat $6.99 for all S8 film.
To find out more, call 1-800-DEVELOP
really
Post what experiences you have with them.
good luck.

Wal-Mart in Mt View hasn't caused me any trouble. And the folks behind the counter are actually beginning to "get" it. Every time (quite often, actually) I go in, they mention this person or another that's also doing a lot of movie film. Last week they mentioned someone that got their film back unporcessed.
I think Wal-Mart's not the problem. Maybe Fuji. If it helps, I always write "Movie Film to Process" in the Special Instructions box on the envelopes.
Anybody know what Wal-Mart would do with 16mm K40?

Target Super8 Processing
Again, I think one has to go with a little overkill in providing more detailed information on the processing envelope with regards to Super 8mm processing (even insert a note inside the envelope) Even though it is listed as one of their services, the employees in that dept. may not be aware of Super8 because it is kind of an esoteric thing to the general public, today.Anonymous wrote:I just got my same 2 k40 carts back from walmart undeveloped again for the second time in a row. I wrote movie film and super 8 all oer it.
They actually tried to charge me for processing this time!!!!!!!!
Time to go elsewhere.
I did stop by Target here in the Bay Area and checked-out & read their available lab services, and amazingly, they also offer Super8 Kodachrome film processing at $6.99! I am assuming that Target also sends Super8 to Dwaynes. It is under slide & movie processing and someone posted that Target does Ektachrome Super8 film (?) but I think that is not correct and possibly refers to Ektachrome "slide" processing.

The "services offered" list at the Target closest to me also claims to offer Ektachrome S8 processing. However, back in February, when I dropped off two rolls of Ektrachrome 7240 to be developed, they came back "service unavailable." The clerk behind the counter double-checked and told me that, contrary to what the "services offered" list claimed, Target only processed K40 S8 film.

kodachrome, ektachrome, walmart and target.
I just dropped off a cart of Ektachrome at Target, now I'm worried. I called 1800 DEVELOP again, and I was told specifically that Target in Mountaiv View, California does process BOTH kodachrome and ektachrome, and that they get sent to different labs. What I LOVE about Target, is that you can simply track your order via envelope # on http://www.kodak.com/go/processing
Supposedly, my ektachrome will be back on the 29th, I'll post the results, if any.
On another sour note, my 2 carts of kodachrome are supposedly comming back to walmart today, after over a month and being sent back twice undeveloped!! To Fuji people's credit, I was promised free processing on the film,... I'll believes it when I sees it!
In the future I plan to only use prepaid mailers for kodachrome, and look into the possibility of hand development for B+W and maybe ektachrome.
