Strange cinecam

Post by Geronimouse »

Has anyone any info on a "Starmax Reflex Zoom"cinecam? A friend rang me today and asked if I could find what it's worth. As I'd never heard of it I thought someone out there might cast some light on it! Apparently it has an F1.8 40mm lens I'll get more details in a few days when I see it in the flesh.....

Sounds like an own brand cheapo from the 1970s, assuming it is a super-8.

The only references I can find to "starmax" are a manufacturer of current binoculars and telescopes and a Korean movie distributor!

Could be the telescope manufacturers made cine cameras in the 70's but Wahiba's deduction that it sounds like a cheap brand is at least equally plausible.

I would hazard a guess that 40mm is the upper reach of the zoom, with it beginning at 8 or 10mm making it a 4x zoom which isn't too bad. Not a recognised brand name though so unlikely to be worth much - but you never know...remember that wonderful Flectron!
