I need some basic film editing software?

I am a still photog and new to movies. Somehow I managed to acquire a few hundred 8mm and 16mm films from the 1930's to 1960's. I will eventually have them on Mp4 and hi res individual scanned Tiff files.

What kind of basic video software should I buy that can add titles, add projector noise and edit the MP4 and Tiff files.

I am very good at Lightroom, would that be good to globally PP the individual Tiff files or does the movie software do it better, easier?

Hi,
I would suggest either Adobe Premiere Elements or if you're on a Mac just go for iMovie or Final Cut X. Heck, even Moviemaker on Windows would do.

Basically all editing programs do the same. They allow you to cut your clips and re-arrange them + add titles, effects and audio. However, they are a bit different in workflow/graphical user interface + what input/output formats they support. However, most (if not all) can import h.264 and .tiff.
