More mpg-files (WP-transfered regular and super 8 films)
Hi!
I'm just working with one regular 8 mm film (from 50's) transfer project .
That film is in very bad shape, a lot of scratches etc. Part of that 20 min home movie is shot in color (with K25), but it looked almost B&W stuff, when I first transfered it.
I did couple tests with Canopus Video Doctor software correcting colors and here is one test mpg containing both original film examples (at the first) and corrected parts after them. I'm very satisfied the result I got, by using that program I got color warmer and perhaps more like they originally were.

I tried also to fix scratches, here is 2 second example, which contain the both original and fixed 1 second clip. Tip: use to the loop option of your viewer to get the point of this test. It took 1 hour to me to fix these one second frames (16 frames with photoshop).

I also made yesterday funny mpg-file containing my own shots from the beginning of Summer 2002. I used Bauer s 709 XL camera at 24 fps and time lapse.

I love it when you post your stuff. Sure, some of your files are a bit big, but I got adsl so it's not big deal to me. But even if I only had a dial up connection I would take the time to download your clips.
I actually liked the footage before you color corrected it. Maybe a little desaturated but I think the corrected result looked too saturated, almost unnatural I'm sorry to say. Just my personal opinion though.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of your stuff. I can't afford my own work printer right now, so It's really great seeing what it can do. And you can't see the true result from the work printer on one of those 1 inch windows, so keep it up! (you don't have a few seconds of uncompressed super8 footage by the way. Maybe you could E-mail it to me. I'd just love to see your stuff at full quality)

Yeah, great results!
I too kinda prefer the look before color correction. The color correction really does bring the color back, which is good if you want big, full colour.
But thats not to say the original doesn't look good!
They both look good! In their own way!
Keep 'em coming though! I loved that stuff from 2002!

I do have all material (I have in these mpgs) at my harddrive in Canopus dv-format (avi), so I'd cut couple second clip and put it in my server, where you'd download it, but could you watch that format?
From Canopus webpages you'd download free dv-codec I think.
I'd also put some full frame stills to my server perhaps in uncompressed tiff format.

Yes, with WP-3 and Sony Pc-100 mini-dv camera using Canopus DVRaptor and Raptorvideo still image capture possibilities. Raptorvideo saves single frame to uncompressed bmp format. Raptoredit makes automatically avi-videofile from these bmp-files.

I couldn't find any codec's to download on canopus' homepages, so I probably won't be able to view those files. But what about converting the files into microsoft dv or quicktime dv. Or maybe a .mpg with very low compression. Do you Use Premiere? EZ Cleaner(bundled with Premiere6.0) sure gives you enough options.
Whatever you figure out, I appreciate you taking the time and the effort.
Thank's!

saw it too
hey jukkasil
i saw your videos too
the 2002 stuff is very nice, i just can't understand how did you burn som much film with the fast motion thing, or did you do it with 18fps?
The color correction looks nice, especially with the flower shot.
Keep uploading your movies!
Mattan.

I shot them using interval option (time lapse) of my Bauer camera, meaning that for example in that clock-part I used about 3 hour (1 frame per every 10 second interval I think) to shoot the whole scene. So it isn't so much film at all, the whole scene last about 15-20 seconds with final speed (PAL 25 fps).
So, if you're interested to shoot this kind of things (sunset, moving clouds etc.), just check from ebay, cameras like Nizos (800, 801, pro, 4080, 6080 etc.),
Bauers (512, 709, 715 etc.), Agfas (Movexoom 6 and 10), Cosinas (7410 and 7610) etc. they all have interval mode to do this kind of time lapse shots easily.
Personally I own Porst 1500 (Bauer 715), Bauer 709, Leicina super RT, Agfa Movexoom 10, Cosina 7410 and 7610 to do this trick.
Also some cameras have even time exposure possibilities like Bauer 512, Nizos, Leicina super/super rt and special (with st1 module, I want to buy this unit, if someone want to sell it to me, please let me know!) etc.
I have shot a lot interval stuff with Bauer 709 XL during this year, I still have to transfer all to video, to start making short films of them!
