Battery Cartridge - Chinon Super 8 Pacific 60 SMR XL?

Post by Quirkus Malurkis »

Hi all,
new member.

I recently got my hands on a Chinon super 8 camera but unfortunately without the battery cartridge.

Chinon Pacific 60 SMR XL - (great looking little camera and seems like its in good shape)

This forum seems like the best place to ask if anyone could post me a photo of the cartridge? I'm thinking maybe then I could rig something up?!

most of the chinon 60 series cameras seem to be similar so I would assume that the cartridge would be similar as well.

apart from keeping an eye out for another used camera on ebay, if anyone has any other ideas for a solution please let me know!

cheers. Q... :D

Nice looking camera! Can't truly help but have you run alligator clips to the terminals to make sure it works?

Was just looking at pictures I googled of one. What are the jacks it has on the other side?

sorry for the late reply, and thanks for responding.
No I haven't tried your idea to check the power, I'll see if I can do so.

As for the jacks, the other side has one socket and a push pin button which together accepts the microphone you can see pictured.

The camera did not come with a manual but I found a few websites that appear to sell digital copies. (it did come with the original purchase receipt and warranty from 1976 which was pretty cool) I haven't used a super 8 camera in years but in the back of my mind had been thinking about it again and then I came across this camera in an opportunity shop for $10 (AU) and became excited so I didn't really think too much about checking it our fully for that price.
I do know it takes six batteries.
There's a few electronics shops, maybe I can take it there and ask their advice for rigging up some sort of battery part....
