Regular 8mm Film - Tri-x Sold Out

Well, I certainly didn't think this would happen so soon. We're out of 8mm Tri-X already. I'm going to try to get another batch of it going. In the meantime, there is plenty of Vision 3 50D.

Update: I may sell the rolls of Tri-X I was keeping for personal use. Stay tuned.

Ok, so this is embarrassing. I received a large order and miscalculated remaining inventory. There are a few rolls left yet.

Wow, if people are buying it at that price, go talk to a machinist about them making you a film perforator!

Perforators are precision instruments. The perforators that exist today are refurbished from older perforators. I think Nowill in UK paid about $11,000 to retool his perforator. I had the impression that Wittner paid around $30,000 to rebuild his perforator. KAHL got his perforator from ORWO. Building one from scratch would be very expensive. I know of one person that tried to build a perforator from a sewing machine. He did perforate some film but the results were horrible. p.s. it wasn't me. I also know of someone that worked at an aerospace firm and had one of the machinists build a small desktop perforator that was advanced manually. Maybe someone could build a perforator with a 3-D printer. Maybe someone can make a 3-D printer that makes the base material, spreads the emulsion and perforates all in one step.

Yeah, can you tell me about the guy who made one from a sewing machine? Were the perforations just poorly spaced or did it not punch through clean? I've been wondering myself about using new technologies like that to make 8mm films. Like maybe electrobeam lithography where you can get something down to 10 nanometers. If you can burn a black and white image into anything that can be used as film with a machine like that then the lens of your projector is the only limit of your resolution!

I actually had a spool that he perforated. The film ran through the camera and projector but the registration was horrible. The frames jumped all over the place. If I were more organized, I could find the spool but it would take too much searching to find the spool. I remember he was associated with the military but I can't remember his name.

Forum member Paul Cotto (spelling?), was making a perforator for Double Super 8. I always wonder what happened to guy like him and Eric Martin Jeves?
