Will Kodak print their new Super8 stuff or just scan? Only in US?

Update: First two rolls have been processed by Fotokem. They are being printed as positives (albeit on 16mm stock) on 2/24/16. Fotokem will make a best light print of both rolls and then print again with scene-to-scene color correction. I'll only be able to project in 16mm projector, with four frames showing at a time, but it will nevertheless be a valid test of the workflow.

great effort thanks,

the cameras in this format are great, a lot can be done with them with good film

I am in italy and interested in both vision (even if they can be run only once) and tri-x, film only. I can develop and telecine with the labs in europe.

Great effort, thanks for this.

I am in Italy, and would like to buy both Vision and tri-x, film only. I can have the labs in Europe process, cut and scan

Like this:

About 1 minute into it you see all the frames in the 16mm frame. Interesting because it shows how far over the Spirit can see into the sprockets on the left...

Cool. I guess we're seeing 12 fps since the frame centered on the left is every other frame.

Exactly. It would have been difficult to pull out two frames from each scan and align them properly...although I'm sure a script could have been written to do it if we scanned it capturing all 4 frames in their entirety within the 16mm scan.

Update

First batch of Regular 8 V3 50D has been scanned at Spectra. Here are their comments.

"The original R8 negative was not as sharp as your Arri or Aaton. But, it was still very impressive. Probably some of the best reg 8 I have seen."

I guess someone needs to work out a PL mount for Bolex 8mm pocket cameras.

I will likely have the scan posted late Friday.

Not meant seriously, yes?

I find the little pocket cameras wonderful and would never want anything else than D-mount lenses on them.
Bell & Howell Sportster (proprietary bayonet), Revere 88, Paillard-Bolex C/B/D8, Bauer 88, Cima, Christen,
and all the others. There are very good D-mount lenses around and if one wants to use a C-mount one, the
option of an adapter ring is here. The next problem encountered with serious filmmaking in Double-Eight
is the viewfinder that in most cases doesn’t match up with film and lens. Not so many cameras offer reflex
viewing. The most famous one of them, the Paillard-Bolex H-8 Reflex, is not a pocket camera in the proper
sense.

Yeah, I was kidding. The Kern Switar lenses on my D8L have all been collimated recently, and the D8L was mint - never used until a few weeks ago, but CLA'd before use. My Dad's kodachrome films from his D8LA and B8 are all extremely sharp.

I was just a little disappointed to hear that the test films weren't perfect. I was hoping they'd be unbef-inglievably sharp.

Hi Dennis, back to DS8 arguments, i'm in Italy i'm thinking to buy a 1000' foot from you and perf from Wittner, i've few questions:
They have already all your batch in stock ? or you have to send by request ?!
Do you think that if i need the 100" rolls i must have to pay the respolling on 1000" core ?!
Regarding price, i've to pay the stock direct to you, and the job to Wittner ?!

Many thank's for your passion !!!

Hi Paolo -

Which emulsion are you interested in? All my TXR and 50D is finished. I could sell you 1000' of 250D, or you could buy some 50D or TXR when I reorder from EK.

Thanks,
Dennis

Everyone has their own goals, but for me, regular 8 is about a softer look; getting back to what Super 8 used to look like before all the new scanning options made it closer to 16mm. Plus I like the compact camera options.
