Elmo 16CL take up arm update 3D print

Post by jzagaja »

Can you please check number of teeth, diameter and belt length/pitch in Elmo 16CL? I have v1 with rubber belt and would like print new gears and publish. Upper roll with spring is not geared must rubbered?

V1 belt is 43,4cm long.

I don't know what you mean by this but why wouldn't the upper roll be geared? The whole point is to not put the wear on the rubber belt, right? Did you see this pic? http://www.rcsclassic16mm.com/images/Ta ... 20Kits.bmp

Well I don't want to guess :) From the picture I can't tell. A guy in Germany sells upgrade for toothed version and I don't see them - see picture below. I had two and both were non-toothed. As there's no upgrade in Europe I would like make myself.

If that one doesn't provide more torque as it gets heavier, I wouldn't consider it an upgrade. The way it originally came from the factory is nice because as the takeup gets heavier, it has more torque so you get more consistent film tension. I believe there is one with a clutch made of cork which gives you more torque as the reel gets heavier. Have you been wearing out a lot of belts? I always use the 800 foot reel as much as possible to reduce wear.
