TRI-X

Post by mr8mm »

Kodak seems to be out of S8 TRI-X. I have had an order in for 6 weeks and they have not filled the order. When I check status, I get there is none in any warehouse and no date when stock will be available. Maybe Dennis depleted the supply with his giant order. Anyone have any insight into what is going on?

Dennis is notorious for purchasing heaps of Super-8?

Must be a different Dennis. I don't believe I've ever purchased a single roll of Super 8 TXR.

The basic problem seems to be that Kodak underestimated the demand for TRI-X and has run out. Which I think is a good thing. Now the gnomes in the back room at Kodak are mixing up more material to pour another TRI-X batch. The Dennis I was referring to purchased a large quantity of TRI-X and V3 as regular 8. Super 8 or R8 all comes off the same wide roll as I understand the process. My point is that Kodak has run out of stock. It is nice that B&H has some but that is from an older supply. I would imagine that other retailers have some TRI-X. So it is not like TRi-X has disappeared at the moment but it could be in short supply after stocks are depleted.

Ok thanks
How long do you think it would take for Kodak to remanufacture some?
I wonder how long it would take them to put it back into carts etc if it runs out.

Not a bad thing it ran out, as it shows a real demand and many new users will want reversal film (colour reversal mmmh...aybe eventually :ymhug: )
