Regular 8 V3 500T

Post by mr8mm »

I have regular 8 500T( negative V3). This film was slit as 16mm from 35mm 500T and perforated as regular 8. It is not reperforated 16mm. I have several 25ft test spools. I would like to get an opinion regarding the quality of this film. Most interested in perforations. If someone would like to test this film, I will send at no cost a sample 25ft spool. All I ask is that you shoot the film and give an opinion in a reasonable amount of time. Don' t store in freezer and ten years later tell me your opinion. I may be dead by then or only exist in digital form.

I'll take one! So basically you want us to tell you how good of registration it's getting? Did you modify a sewing machine to perforate this?

No sewing machines. This was perforated in Europe with a commercial perforator. It is the real deal but I want to check before I start selling and iron out any problems. I don't want to sell and then have customers complaining. It will probably sell for about $25/25ft spool.

Oh alright! So it punched 4 or 8 perfs at a time? Yes, I'd love to run one!

Good luck for new project, John, me, your Italian customer, would buy for sure your Vision 500T for Regular 8.

Info: lab who process the Vision 3 in Super 8, 16mm, etc. can easily process also the Double 8?

I checked with ANDEC. Andec will process regular/normal 8 V3 color negative. They will also consider making positive prints but have not had any demand. Interesting point is that have already processed several spools of color negative film. Someone out there in film land must have made some R8 color negative. -----

I knew Andec could process color negativein Regular 8, but that could not be printed; I knew, in their email, theya not have the gate for copy in Regular 8 but only for Super 8.
If they need only more customers, good! I'd be happy to buy regularly reversible color in Regular 8, but if I can have the positive, I prefer edit and project in analogic.

I sent Andec an email asking if they'd be interested in any R8 print film and didn't receive a response.

I have 6000' of NP print film at Wittner and have been trying to decide how quickly I want to perf that. The 480 euro setup charge for the perfing machine makes me a little queasy in the context of print film. I feel that the market for R8 print film is very limited.
