Re: Regular 8 Vision 3 50D and 250D
I believe I'm going to proceed with perfing of one emulsion at a time. I'm curious, what would people rather shoot - 50D or 250D?
50D is usable with no filters but 250D can be used in more situations if user has ND filters.
50D will have a longer shelf life.
Please raise your hands if you prefer 50D. Ok, now if you prefer 250D...

Re: Regular 8 Vision 3 50D and 250D
I am very interested in 50 D negative as Double-Eight, would also want to print on color positive film. I have Paillard-Bolex H-8 and H-8 RX cameras with nice glass and several pocket cameras such as the Eumig C 3, Paillard-Bolex C8, B8, and others. Polyester base is absolutely no problem to me, I have a Metric splicer with register plates for 16mm film, so that works. I like non shrinking film, too.

I should add that spooled cost of this stuff will be about $1.50/foot - that's cost, not cost + profit. I intend to sell for cost.

For one choice, I vote 50D!

$1.50 per foot makes $45-50 per roll.silverhalide wrote:I should add that spooled cost of this stuff will be about $1.50/foot - that's cost, not cost + profit. I intend to sell for cost.
Still I would advise to keep a proper margin to allow for unexpected losses in cutting or with later handling like somebody switching the light on while spooling

Did you order both? Or what is the point with people voting when the order has been placed?
Kind regards,
André

I ordered 50D, 250D, Tri-X, and Print film. It's all being delivered Monday. WIttner is closed until 1/8/16. I plan to ship all the stock to them around 1/6/15. Somewhere in there, I have to decide which color stock to perf/spool first. Tri-X is a given. I think I'm going to sit on the print stock for awhile. I've got 6000' of that and perfing will run nearly $2000.
The question I posed was to help me decide which of the two color stocks to perf first, because I don't think I want to do it all at once. It's a pretty big $ commitment.

Shipping must be costing a ton too.
Better study the regulations on export and import of goods for being worked on and returned after that.
Before you know it you will be charged for importing goods which are your own property.
Not to forget how much time such procedures may coast when not prepared thoroughly.
Good luck!

Dennis, excuse me, maybe I missed or did not understand well because I do not speak English well: you can also print positive service?silverhalide wrote:Hi,aj wrote:$1.50 per foot makes $45-50 per roll.silverhalide wrote:I should add that spooled cost of this stuff will be about $1.50/foot - that's cost, not cost + profit. Hi There,
I did buy print film, but I'm going to put off the printing part of the project for a bit.
Thanks

The unperforated film has arrived. Wittner is closed until 1/8/16. I'll be shipping 1/6/16 or 1/7/16...
