cleaning my canon lens

Post by guest01 »

Hi, i bought a canon autozoom 318 m and noticed that there is some dust in the interior of the lens, anyone have any suggestions on how to get this cleaned without paying a fortune? thanx.

Greetings,

First, shoot some film and see if the dust shows up. Usually, dust on a lens surface doesn't show up on the finished film. Make sure to use a lens hood to prevent extranious light from reflecting off of the dust and causing flair.

I have a Nizo camera that had some fog on the inner front element. It got to the point that I couldn't take it anymore. I bought a retaining ring tool and disassembled the front elements (4), cleaned them with residual oil remover, and reassembled them. There are rings that go between the lenses so it really can't be reassembled incorrectly. Now it's crystal clear, beautiful, and it works perfectly.

thanks, I've shot some film on it and will wait for the results before I go tampering, as I've already tried to remove the lens and I'm not sure if I can.. cheers.
