Is it possible to process K40 as B/W neg using D76 or simila
A friend of mine claims he still has several miles of Kodachrome which he'd like to process himself (he has E6 processor etc). I told him it's a no way to achieve color reversal, he can only get a B/W negative image and he now wants to pursue this goal, but how can this be done practically? Thank you

I have developed it as a black and white negative but the negative will be very dark. The way I did it was Semi-Stand development in Rodinal for one hour. I have also sent some to Film Rescue International, they will get much better results. I don't know how they do it but it makes a big difference if the image was shot on the film when it was fresh. If it was shot after the film expired the image won't be very good.

Some images I developed with Rodinal.

There are miles of webposts and other wrtings about the subject.
Check this forum itself.
And read up here : http://www.dagiebrundert.de/K40.html
or here http://www.dagiebrundert.de/K40.html
Mostly it is turned into negative which needs scanning of course

I think you can fix that by giving the film more exposure.BAC wrote: If it was shot after the film expired the image won't be very good.
