Does anyone see the value in screens like this?

Post by slashmaster »

I'm going through some of the projector screens you can get at best buy and see ones with skyhigh pricetags such as this http://www.bestbuy.com/site/da-lite-pol ... 1311259187 $11,481.56 they want for it! I'm having a hard time seeing the value in it. Anyone know how it's worth that much or is someone getting ripped off? There is no gold in it is there?

That's a flat glass screen measuring 12 feet wide and 9 feet high.
Not for home use obviously. Could weighs over 2000 lbs depending on thickness of glass.
Considering all this, price seems fair to me.

Seems like you'd be able to build something like that for significantly less than $11,000. A little research could probably dig up a company that makes a similar or exactly the same material these are made from and just build it yourself.
