So I bought an Angénieux f1.2 6-80mm lens for a Beaulieu 5008s on Ebay, and after it arrived I have had a few issues.
the first was that it did not screw onto the camera fully, but I was able to fix this easily with instructions from an old post (taking off the reglo-zoom motor-assembly and loosening the bottom screws to re-adjust the c-mount threads)... and the iris-control works great (it seems to work better, even, than my Schneider 6-70mm lens that the camera came with), but the zoom-motor doesn't work. When I hit either zoom-control buttons it does move, just barely, which I'm hoping tells me the motor is getting power, but it doesn't quite seem to be enough to move the lens. Does anyone have advice on how to fix, or even just check, the zoom motor?

Can the zoom be operated by hand? I.e grip the cylinder and rotate it? I.e it is not stuck.
This is best tested without power on.
Also important is to check the batteries. Are they charged properly and do they deliver current?
Messure the voltage on the terminals of the battery. Must be 0-3.6-7.2 volts

Re: Angenieux 6-80mm for Beaulieu 5008s help
thanks for the response, aj. The zoom does work (it is not seized, can be turned by hand), and the batteries work, too (and it provides enough power to operate the zoom-motor for my other, Schneider 6-70, zoom lens).
I did just buy another Angénieux 6-80 lens (for cheap) that I will try replacing parts with. Hopefully this will fix things.

You might consider going without the Reglomatic
It is what the pros do.
The powerzoom is hardly used at all (by many) and the auto aperture control has some conveniences but also considerable disadvantages. Especially when scanning or printing I believe.
Disassembling the zoommotortube of the Reglomatic isn't too difficult either. That would make it a 5008 M3 like.

Re: Angenieux 6-80mm for Beaulieu 5008s help
I have considered taking off the motor, but I really like the smooth-zooms I get with it (my results by hand have been jerky, although attaching a crank, like Angenieux made for the 12-120 lenses, to control the zoom would be great, if that's even possible).
I have also found that the reglo-zoom controls make for a comfortable hand-grip.
I'll probably disassemble it once I get the other lens.
thanks for the advice!

You can adjust the speed of the zoom on the end of the tube. Maybe its on the slowest setting?

Re: Angenieux 6-80mm for Beaulieu 5008s help
yeah, I've tried adjusting the zoom speed to no avail. The curious thing is that when I do try and zoom using the motor, the internal red light-meter LED activates (as if the exposure is incorrect even if it has enough light), which makes me think that maybe the motor is shorting somewhere and drawing current away from the other functions on the camera. But that wouldn't explain why it does move (albeit not enough to notice if not looking through the viewfinder) when I push the button (unless maybe the button's themselves are responsible for the very-small movement).

Re: Angenieux 6-80mm for Beaulieu 5008s help
I did just find this in an old thread from 2003 (from a "Guest" user)
This, I think, explains the issues I have been having, and possibly why I had to readjust the c-mount threading to make it fit properly (my Angénieux lens is from an older model 5008s, and my camera is a later 5008s MS). Now I just hope the the next lens is from a later model camera. Otherwise maybe I'll be able to rewire the zoom motor.I have 2 Beaulieu 5008's - one is the early non-multispeed model with the Angenieux lens, the other is the last production multispeed model with the Schneider lens, LED's in viewfinder, and daylight filter switch on the lens itself instead of the body of the camera. I always thought that 5008 lenses were fully swappable between earlier and later cameras...this is not entirely the case...I was surpised to find that while the 5008 lenses are physically swappable with each other (Just like any other c-mount lens), that the electrical connections are very slightly different, so that I can't use the zoom function of the early Angenieux lens on my 5008 Multispeed body etc. I think I can make the zoom function work if I don't screw the lens on completely...which you would never do.
