Hi,
I managed to find a used Canon 814 locally here and it seems to be in perfect condition. Now I've listened to the motor and it sounds great, yet I don't want to grind it down now that it will be back in use. It might've been in a closet for 25 years.
I'm on Long Island about 35 miles from Manhattan. Might someone suggest a place where the camera could be looked at and the motor lubricated.
Thanks very much.

I found this out for the Bolex H16. One can allow a drop of fine non-freezing chronometer oil, entirely free from acid, to fall on all visible axes of the mechanism.
Now that's a spring loaded camera so that should help folks with a spring wound camera of different makes.
Someone at my local camera shop suggested 3M all purpose oil, yet I have hesitated and feel rightly so. Oils of different compositions might react with each other and that could mean trouble; but I'm no expert.

Just a short notice now.
I have the maintenance manual for the C1014XL-S which includes the lubrication method of the cam. I can post some info on the different lubes and positions somewhat later. Different lubes on different mechanisms.
