Scanning artifact?

Post by jrcasey1960 »

Guys:
I've noticed that some of the Super 8mm Ektachrome 160 reversal prints that I've scanned have this strange green hue at the junction of shadows and midtones--especially at the junction of skin and hairlines. Generally seen with indoor shots. Anyone else experienced this and have any suggestions about how to minimize it?

Thanks!

After a bit more research, I think this might be an unwanted result of my new best friend: the unsharp mask in After Effects. I'm working on a solution and will post same when it's worked out.

Scratch the unsharp mask idea, it isn't that. The junction color is there prior to applying Neat and unsharp mask--just not as clear. The only common factor is increasing the luminance of a darker scan.
