Leicina Special Repair

Post by silverhalide »

Hello!

I have a Leicina Special which was working 2 years ago, albeit with a non-working exposure meter. I sent it to a repair place on the west coast. Just got it back. No repair completed and now not working at all. Bummer.

Does anyone know of someone in the states who is particularly skilled at repairing Leicina Specials?

I realize this is a tall order!

Thanks!

It was with Willard?

Likely it was just put together again without properly reconnecting the wiring.
Maybe ask Bernie of super16inc for a referral or possibly he can check it out himself.
Kind regards,

After further consideration, I guess I'd be willing to send it overseas. My luck with Bernie hasn't been great.

Thanks!

Bernie's not really a Super 8 guy, he's more a pro level 16mm, 35mm & lens guy.

Let us know who you find for the Special. Beaulieu is easy, Bjorn all the way.

Ekhard Piehler regularly offers refurbished Leicina Special cameras at eBay. I bought one from him a couple of years ago and have been very satisfied. His eBay ID is ecki1038_kameratechnik. I'm not sure he'd accept equipment for repair, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Hello!
I've had my Nikon R10 and Canon 814 xls serviced by Eckhard. He's currently taking care of my Lecina special. I think he works fast and does a good job. Although I'm awaiting treatment of the special. It had an issue with stopping in the middle of a take.
Anyhow my feeling is that he's charge is reasonable and that he works fast although his communication is terrible. If possible I think German is to prefer.

Leicina special repair adresses have been discussed before... And unfortunately mr Piehler too.
Our forum admin got the wrong camera back
and I got a personal discouragement to send to it to Piehler when I asked around at the time.

But maybe things have changed at to workshop.

So much can change in the 7 years of those's posting's ? there are other;s that can fix the Leicina Special , only thing as I said before spare part's .
I had sent my one to Spain for repair's 6 month's later still no repair , can fix most thing's no spare motor . After many email.s then five phone got it back with free post . for the rest was waste of time as had check with them, and made it clear what was wrong by email . Had being told a 90% chance can fix >
Seem when the motor goes it over .

Well, I've sent the camera to Duall in NYC. Fingers crossed.

I looked back at my old email and Eckhard did service this camera for me. I bought it on Ebay.de and had it shipped directly to me. It seems like he had all the issues resolved before he shipped it, but the meter didn't work when I got it. So I just sat on it for awhile and eventually sent it to mystery shop on west coast, where it sat for two years.

I look forward to hearing from Duall. I'll let y'all know how it turns out.

If the camera was not working as it's should being the meter not working ,Then he did a poor job on service ? why did you not take it up with ebay ? Too buy a camera from europe then have it shipped to the US then sitting around someone workshop for two year's seen like a waste of dollar's , Or for you get a Leicina special too work, has been deep on the pocket's,

You cannot buy a defect camera from one, have it repaired somewhere else and then when it arrives with a fault have it sent back.
Kind regards,

André
